Effects of Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) on Cortisol Levels in Stressed Human Subjects: A Systematic Review
The infographic on Ashwagandha shows the results of a study that looked at how Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) affects stress levels in humans. Ashwagandha, an important herb used in Ayurveda, has been tested to see how it can regulate the way the body deals with stress. According to research, taking Ashwagandha lowers serum cortisol, the major stress hormone. In the same framework, the study revealed that people who took the supplement experienced a 27.9% decrease in cortisol during the research period, while the placebo group only had a 7.9% fall. The studies indicate Ashwagandha may help with stress, but researchers need to conduct more tests to discover its complete effects and underlying systems.
